Me: "I was really looking forward to eating dinner tonight"
Shauna: "If it makes you feel better, I haven't eaten either."
Me: "Why would that make me feel better? 'Oh boy, you're hungry too'?"
Stupid abdominal pains. More to follow later.
UPDATE: After getting home at 6AM, the doctor couldn't really say more than "here, have a Lortab".

Just a quickie to let everyone know that we got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Shauna's been sleepy (oxycodone/Percoset will do that) but we've had a few welcomed visitors over today. Anyone looking to do well-wishing should drop by or give us a call.

The good news is that she's doing okay so far. She's still in a bit of pain, but she's alert and coherent despite the various painkillers she's been taken. Here's the deal on what went down.

Appendicitis.
More specifically, Shauna's sitting in St. Mark's Hospital (room 9 in the emergency room if you're interested) with a "gnarly-looking" (quote from the doctor) hunk of everyone's favorite vestigial organ. She's going to have it taken out tomorrow (today?) and is going to be kept in the hospital for a day for observation. This, of […]

After months of putting it off (and numerous threats by my mother to send in the flying monkeys), I finally went to the doctor for a general check-up. The good news is that I don't have any obvious maladies and my bloodwork turned out okay (save my HDL being a bit low). The bad […]

I'll admit it: I'm a very crunchy conservative. I believe in organic foods (even if we don't have money to buy them), I don't feed our dogs food made with a lot of preservatives, and I try to avoid packaged or processed foods when I can. I drink water instead of soda, I can name […]

I can totally get excited about something like this, even if they are going to be way downtown. Wherefore art thou, Trader Joe's?

I'm sitting here at my desk munching on a granola bar. This, however, is no ordinary granola bar. It's a honey almond flax bar by the fine folks at Kashi. I've gotten addicted to their 7-grain goodness. The granola bars? Awesome. The breakfast cereal? Awesome. The frozen dinners? (Yes, they make them. We found six […]

She's an emaciated sadistic little witch. And I wouldn't go back there if you paid me. Unless you were paying me to snap the little twig in half.
So seriously. I was really excited about my appointment with this dietician last Friday. She came highly recommended by my neuro-opthamologist as someone that they've used for years […]
