More Office Pranks

Everyone in the office knows to lock their PCs when they step away from their desks, even for a moment. You might ask why this is. It's because if you don't, you risk getting Hoffed.  That's where your background gets changed to a random picture of David Hasslehoff. I neglected to lock my PC today for about 3 minutes and ended up being the subject of a Hoffing. As the last incident with office pranks should tell you, I don't talk these things sitting down.

Since I couldn't get access to his PC to get him back, I started off with some tame stuff. You know, hiding his ficus tree in an empty cubicle on the other side of the building and swapping his comfy office chair for a metal folding one. As I was staring at his desk thinking of other ways to up the ante, I got a brilliant idea.

You see, each of us in the tech support department has a few time clocks hanging around for testing purposes. One of these models of clocks has the ability to show a small image on the screen… and we all have the master passwords to unlock any clock. About 20 minutes later, I had Hoffed his clock, the one electronic item he couldn't secure. It's also pretty tough to get off since you have to make a replacement image in a funky format to overwrite what's already on there.

Everyone I showed it to thought it was brilliant. I can't wait to see the look on his face in the morning.

I used to be friend/enemies with the girl who sat next to me at my last job in Florida.

She used to cover my desk in post its, usually all with death threats or the “You’d get more work done if you were dead” quotes.

I once figured out how to disassemble her chair while making it appear to stand perfectly fine.

Anytime a loud thud was heard on the floor, the management knew it was me or Amy.

We once had an IT guy who couldn’t type to save his life. So, I switched all the keys around on the keyboard at his workstation where he fixed machines. The screams could be heard across the building.
