Selling Out

You may have noticed a few extra boxes over on the right for Sponsored Links and an offer to buy advertising. It's true: a year after we thought about it, we're sellouts. Don't worry: I don't feel any particular obligation to appease advertisers and the money is just a way for us to enjoy a meal on someone else's dime from time-to-time. It'll be the same old site with a few extra boxes.

The biggest roadblock was finding a workable platform. After playing around with WPAdmanager, it proved to be a total bust. The code was buggy, English was not the author's native language and I couldn't even figure out how to debug the thing myself. Enter WPTextAds. It has a very slick interface, an active support community and costs exactly zero dollars unless you need to go hog-wild with ads. I've only used it on a limited basis, but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how it works out.

  2. I didn’t realize we were actually trying to advertise for real on the website. I’m always the last one to know.

  3. Jeremy’s is a sellout on his football blog. :-) I enjoy the extra money from him being a sellout. Hey bills have to be paid.
