A movie you all should see: Stranger than Fiction

We went to see this movie tonight. From the trailer, I thought the premise sounded interesting, though Jesse and I have seen a number of movies this year with really interesting or funny sounding premises that just fell short (like this one ). Tonight, I am happy to report that Stranger than Fiction did not disappoint. In fact, I liked it so much more than I thought I would. It was funny and quirky and suspenseful and surprising and sweet. Good job, Will Ferrell. I didn't think you had it in you.

That is good to here. I want to see this movie just on the premise.

We saw it as well, and I completely agree.

    (spoiler alert–below this line)

I liked the subtle nuances in the film. They had to be detailed when doing a story where every detail matters. Take, for example, how they used color to illustrate what the inner life was like for each character.

Miss Eiffel’s room is completely white, because her entire world takes place outside of her room, or in her head, but not immediately around her. The file room was also white. I’m thinking the author is totally fixated on Harold. And, he’s fixated on his routine, until it is replaced by the voice.

Harold had a spartan room-kind of off-white. There was a little color. I think we see potential in Harold, but he doesn’t do much there except eat and sleep.

Ana, and the Professor are the only one’s with any color in their rooms. Ana has a flower tatoo to match her couch. There are more colors than there are items in her apartment. (There is an, interesting, colorful light fixture, also.) Ana is the only one that is really, living her life, and makes life worth living.

Great movie. Worth watching again, and again.

Wow, that comment by Tyler Farrer made me want to watch the movie even more now.
I love Will Ferrel. I’m not sure why, though. He just always delivers, I guess. šŸ™‚

I really wanted to see this anyway. It could be incredibly stupid and I still would. I can’t help it. He’s had me since SNL… and then Elf…

  8. Sherpa says:

Will’s had me at SNL too. And then there was elf, and anchorman, and winter passing. I can’t talk about kicking and screaming though.

I saw this movie last week via NetFlix, and I heart it. Easily the best movie I’ve seen in over a year.
