Social Blunder #25

Bluetooth wireless headsets are not a fashion accessory. The only times it is acceptable to be wearing and/or using one of these things is if you are driving a car or doing Mission Impossible-style acrobatics while talking to someone on the phone (and the odds are 6 billion to one against you being Tom Cruise). It not only makes you look like a grade A dork but also makes it impossible to know if you're talking to me, to someone on the phone, or to yourself.

Just don't do it.

I keep thinking everyone is talking to themselves and it drives me nuts. I keep wanting to call mental health people to cart them away.

I am guilty of wearing one lately but I don’t go into public places talking on it. I’m scared of talking on the regular phone and looking like a dork.

I just happen to have hour long conference calls on my cell phone from work. 😀

I love that Jesse is writing about this. When he got one of these for an old job, it never left his ear until I threatened to stop being seen with him in public. I told him he looked like a Cyborg. Actually, I think I told him he looked like “One of those robot-like aliens on that dumb Star Trek movie.” I didn’t even know the name. He promptly corrected me.

I still married him. I’m happy to see that I’ve influenced his pet peeves for the better.

I once told a lady at a cell phone kiosk that I wont do business with her because she looks pretentious wearing the BT.

That made me smile. But the Panda lunch was extra smile worthy.
