HAMing It Up, Redux
You're looking at one of Utah's newest HAM operators. Tonight I took the Technician test and passed without a problem. In a couple of days, I get listed on the FCC database with a shiny new call sign and I can legally start transmitting. You know, once I get my own radio.
Hey Vanessa? That's your cue to renew your license.
So whatcha gonna do with your station? What’s your format going to be?
Well… I can’t broadcast. I can only communicate with other HAMs. And it’s technically illegal to have music on the amateur airwaves. They’ll revoke your license for that.
Interesting… I know so little about ham radio – you should educate a young dummyface stupidhead like me someday 🙂
that…actually had no sarcasm in it.
My license is current…… kd6ilg…. I just need to get my hands on a radio.
Is it illegal to play ANY music, or just other people’s? Could you sit and practice your harmonica?
Part 97, Subpart B, Section 97.101 specifically prohibits all music. I don’t think you can even whistle a tune.
What about dancing? Can they ban dancing like ‘Footloose’?
I mean, you’ve GOTTA cut loose….
