An Idea So Bad, You Almost Don't Believe It

Someone at Kellogg's thought it would be a really good idea to make these:

Lego Fun Snacks

No, this isn't a parody. This is a real product. I think that Gabe at Penny Arcade put it best:

I just spent the first three years of my sons life trying to get him not to eat blocks, and now you're telling him they taste like [redacted] strawberries.

That's about the smartest thing anyone could say on the matter.

We actually have bought these. Rarely, but we have! They don’t look anything like the outside of the box, and you definitely can’t build with them. Yep…a pretty lame product….

They look awesome! I would totally buy those. But really, the biggest danger is in feeding such crappy food to a toddler. Toddlers hardly eat any food as it is, so it’s really important to limit what they eat to healthy foods. Big kids like mine eat lots of food, so some junk now and then isn’t a big deal. And they’re also smart enough by the time they’re older to know it’s okay to eat candy Lego but not real Lego.

    Noted. Eating blocks. Bad.

I often wonder if the people in product development have half a brain at all.
Whenever I see a cigarette lighter that looks like a childs toy, I have to get it. I’ve picked up one that looks like an oversized blue gummy bear, a frog with googley eyes, and my favorite – one that resembles a rubber ducky.
Because what you really want to do is make flame sources attractive to 3 year olds.

I think they made interlockable Lego waffles a while ago. But they were going for function, not photorealism.
